In 1972, an annual conference was established to provide training specific to welfare fraud investigations. The first attendees paying a registration fee of $3.00! Although the cost is a bit higher today, it is well worth the fee. The Annual CWFIA Conference continues to provide valuable training and essential information in the field of welfare fraud as well as other related subjects. The annual conference also provides an opportunity for networking and communicating, not only across the State of California from county to county, but across the Nation.
CWFIA strives to provide high-quality and interesting classes with topics that pertain to the new investigator to the seasoned detective. Classes span the fraud investigative world; from basic "Fraud 101" to "Prosecution Preparation" to how to prepare for an "Administrative Disqualification Hearing". New class suggestions are always solicited every year and class reviews requested from every participant to ensure CWFIA's training program stays top-notch!
The annual CWFIA Banquet is always held on the second night of the conference. The banquet includes dinner, beverages, and dessert. While dining, you will be engaged with on-going raffles, cash giveaways, and help celebrate one investigator being awarded the Professional Achievement Award. A good time had by all and a networking bonanza!
CWFIA assures that every participate get the most out of our conference and classes. One way to accomplish that feat is making sure that the majority of the classes are California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified. At the end of the conference, each person in attendance will be provided with a conference Certificate of Completion and will have their attended classes posted to their POST profile.
